Indoor Grow Lighting introduction

led grow lights

Any practical grow blog must tell you that getting the right lights is an essential part for indoor growth. Since plants indoor are not capable of getting much, or even a little bit sunlight, the growers, subsequently take complete control of lighting supply which those plants necessarily need during their growth. As you know, all plants use light for photosynthesis, which is quite important for them to live and grow. If you are planning on making yourself a successful indoor grower, then what are you waiting for?
What Kind of Light Do You Need
Thanks to current increasing development of technology, gardeners are now offered with various kinds of options when it comes to grow lights. The three most common types of grow lights used for indoor gardens are fluorescent, high pressure sodium (HPS) and light-emitting diode (LED). So, which one is the best to use for indoor growers?
LED grow lights are capable of simulating sunlight with a large range of particular wavelengths, which is a unique benefit that oftentimes results in bigger, healthier plants. Besides, LED grow lights last longer (50,000-60,000 hours lifespan) and work under a more appropriate temperature. You can still touch a LED grow light which has been running for days and it will feel cool.
It’s important to note that since LED grow lights run cool, you can place them closer to your plants’ canopy. 0.6-1m is a proposed distance by our engineers. But please do remember that, as led grow lights’ absorption rate achieves 75%-90%, which means one panel 600W led grow light is equal to one 1000W HPS, too much closer distance may make plants burn or withered.
Use a Reflector for Bigger Coverage
No matter what kind of grow light you intend to use, high-quality reflectors as a complement are quite necessary. While, a good LED light alone will likely be enough to supply your plants with enough illumination for growth. Also, you can boost their growth by using a reflector. These are simple fixtures that are used in conjunction with a grow light. Once attached, the reflector will bounce light throughout the surrounding area, providing plants with a greater amount of light.
Dark Period to Take a Break
Contrary to what some people may believe, offering your plants too much light can actually have a negative effect on their growth. You need to know that wild plants are used to receiving both sunlight and darkness and they grow strong, so you may be supposed to mimic the condition in your grow tent or grow room. The exact amount of light and darkness will vary according to different plants you are growing. If you have not done it yet, find out how much darkness your specific plants require. You can then connect your led grow lights to a timer which can make the control a piece of cake.
